| Mode Of Action | Aminobisphosphonates act as specific inhibitors of osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. They bind to the hydroxyapatite in bones. |

| Precautions | Renal insufficiency; hypocalcemia and other disturbances of mineral metabolism need to be corrected before initiating therapy with this drug; tablets are taken with plain water the first thing in the morning (at least 30 minutes before the first food, beverage, or medication of the day). |
| Contra-Indications | Hypocalcemia; abnormalities of the esophagus which delay emptying such as stricture or achalasia; for those who cannot stand or sit upright for at least 30 minutes; hypersensitivity to any component of the product. |
